Hi everyone, Alexios here. I am a civil engineer. For 27 years I have worked on sites in Greece, England, New Zealand and Australia, much of it as the Engineer to the contract, the person who certifies what a contractor gets paid.
Here is the problem I kept seeing. A contractor sends a payment claim. The certifier has a fixed number of working days to answer it, set by law. If the answer is a day late, the whole claimed amount becomes payable, and the certifier’s name is on the letter. Most firms track that date in somebody’s head or a spreadsheet, and the variation everyone agreed on site in March gets priced in June, from memory.
Gnosis is the tool I wanted on those jobs. Each contract is bound to its standard form (NZS 3910, AS 4000, AIA A201, EJCDC) from the first screen, so the wording, the working day calendar, the tax and the retention bands are the contract’s own. A claim lands and is netted against the certified position, over claims are flagged with the evidence, the certificate is issued to the cent through an approval gate, and every statutory clock is counted. Contractors, subcontractors and principals work in the same record and never pay for a seat.
