The global chokepoints project maps these chokepoints across five categories: shipping lanes, internet cables, financial networks, energy infrastructure and technology.
The project introduces a distinction most people haven't considered: physical chokepoints, where geography creates the bottleneck, and institutional ones, where network effects and law do. They fail differently, and they're fixed differently.
