Glintype
Stop typing the endings you have written a thousand times.
Glintype is a privacy-first Mac app for local-first inline autocomplete, midline completion, multilingual writing, and optional cloud AI.
Hey everyone 👋
I started Glintype because I kept wanting the same thing on macOS: autocomplete that works everywhere, feels native, and does not require sending everything I type to a server.
Tools like CoTypist proved there is real demand for this, but I wanted to build something local-first, more flexible, and sold as a simple one-time purchase rather than another subscription.
Glintype runs from the menu bar and gives inline ghost-text suggestions as you type. Press Tab to accept. It supports local models, Apple Intelligence where available, app profiles, dictionary replacements, emoji shortcuts, autocorrect, and optional screen/OCR context.
The challenge has been making this work across the messy reality of macOS: native apps, browser text fields, chat apps, docs, and AI prompt boxes all behave differently.
I’m still improving compatibility and would love honest feedback from people who type a lot on Mac. There is a free trial, so please try it and tell me where it works beautifully — and where it breaks.

Who hunted Glintype?
Glintype was hunted by Omar Haneya. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
