GitSwitcher

git,gitswitcher,macos,app

GitSwitcher is a lightweight macOS menu bar app for developers who use multiple Git identities on the same Mac. Create profiles for work, personal, client, or open-source projects, each with its own Git name, email, SSH key, and GitHub account label. Switch the active identity from the menu bar, generate ED25519 SSH keys, and copy public keys for GitHub setup. Built for developers who want a simpler workflow than manually editing git config, SSH config, or shell scripts.

Top comment

Hi Product Hunt, I built GitSwitcher because I use different Git identities for work, learning, personal projects, and open-source contributions. I did not want my private email to show up in work-related commits, or my company email to appear in personal/public repositories. Manually checking and switching Git name, email, SSH keys, and GitHub accounts became easy to forget and annoying to maintain. So I made GitSwitcher: a small macOS menu bar app that lets you create separate Git profiles and switch between them quickly. Each profile can have its own Git user name, email, SSH key, and GitHub account label. It can also generate ED25519 SSH keys and copy public keys for GitHub setup. The app is local-first, does not require an account, and is macOS only for now. For launch, GitSwitcher is free for 30 days. After that, I plan to return it to a paid app. I would love to hear how other developers manage multiple Git identities today, and what would make GitSwitcher more useful in your workflow.
