GeoStats
I love daily geo games, so I built the one I wished existed
I built GeoStats, a free daily geography game that combines country trivia with an interconnected logic puzzle. Every country and category is visible from the start, and each can only be used once, so every choice affects the entire board. Success comes from comparing options and finding the one optimal arrangement, not hoping the right country appears later. After playing, you can explore hundreds of country statistics and verify the underlying data and sources yourself. No account required.

Who hunted GeoStats?
GeoStats was hunted by Zachary Kamin. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Hi everyone! I’ve spent the past few months building a daily geography game called GeoStats, and I’m finally ready to share it.
GeoStats is inspired by the daily geography-game world, including GeoHunter, LeGrandGeoQuiz, MapTap, Globle, Worldle, and Tradle. Other games also match countries with statistics, but as much as I enjoyed playing them, I kept wanting two things:
More strategy, less luck. One frustration I had with some geography games was that countries or categories appeared one at a time. Even if you knew the material, your result could depend partly on whether the right option happened to appear later. In GeoStats, every country and category is visible from the start, and each can only be used once. You have the complete set of information, so success comes from comparing your options, anticipating tradeoffs, and finding the one optimal arrangement for the entire board.
Data you can explore and verify for yourself. Another frustration was reaching the end of a game and having no easy way to review the underlying information or confirm where an answer came from. You ultimately had to trust that the game designer got it right. GeoStats includes hundreds of country statistics with the underlying data and sources available to explore. You can validate the answers, compare countries beyond the day’s puzzle, and develop a more complete understanding of the subject instead of simply memorizing which answer was correct.
Those ideas became GeoStats.
You’re given a board of countries and categories like highest rainfall, largest cocoa exports, most bordering countries, or earliest World Cup appearance. A country might be great for several categories, but using it for one means giving up the others. The challenge is finding the best combination of answers across the whole board. There are three difficulty levels, from a quick four-country Scout game to a much harder Expert board. It is completely free, and you do not need an account to play.
My hope is that GeoStats works both as a satisfying daily puzzle and as a fun way to learn surprising things about the world.
This is a personal passion project, and I’d genuinely love feedback. I hope you enjoy it!
