Consistency is always the hardest part of managing your money. Traditional budgeting apps always felt like a boring chore to me, so I decided to build a visual, gamified system in Excel that treats tracking your savings and cash flow like leveling up in a game. I’m definitely not a professional accountant or developer—this is just a passion project I work on completely on the side to help organize my life.
Before building this, my finances were all over the place. Designing this layout forced me to become completely accountable and mindful of my weekly spending habits. By staying strict with my budget tracking through these sheets, I was able to successfully build up and cross a total net worth of $10,000 USD at just 17 years old.
What the system includes:
• Visual Progress Tracking milestone bars for your savings goals.
• Asset Allocation charts breaking down your cash flow and net worth automatically.
• Protected formula cells so beginners can’t accidentally break the background math.
• Multi-Currency support to track wealth velocity across different asset classes.
A few design constraints to keep in mind:
• It is structured to track a maximum of two bank accounts to keep the dashboard clean and prevent layout clutter.
• Multi-currency features rely on a quick weekly manual update of your liquid balances and current FOREX rates to keep your progression bars locked in accurately.
I put a ton of work into the UI/UX design so it doesn't look like a standard, boring spreadsheet. Since I'm still learning, I'd love to hear your honest feedback on the layout and features! 🚀
