FramePath
Pre-production planning for filmmakers — 1.1 now in beta.
FramePath turns a screenplay into a structured shot list, storyboard, and shoot-day plan, built for solo filmmakers on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Version 1.1, now in beta, adds lens kits so you can define lenses per project, AI-assisted shot generation that suggests coverage from a scene description, and a scouting-to-storyboard pipeline that lets you sketch compositions directly on location photos. Ever managed pre-production across spreadsheets and note apps? This may be what you've been missing.
I'm an amateur filmmaker. I built FramePath because I kept losing track of my planning documents between the myriad of platforms I needed: my screenplay was in one place, my shot list was in a spreadsheet, and my storyboard sketches were on my phone in an app that had nothing to do with any of it. By the time I got to actually filming my humble projects, I was working from four or five different documents that didn't talk to each other at all.
Now I'm not a professional filmmaker (I'm decidedly a passionate amateur filmmaker and photographer) but I am a former software developer and I used to be a product manager earlier in my career. My day job involves business leadership and strategy. That background made me want to try to create a tool that could perhaps evolve into something that's genuinely useful for others as well.
I wanted one place that understood the whole pipeline from the screenplay to the shoot day. I didn't need a project management tool with a "film template", an online platform made for massive professional teams, or an all-capable and super-flexible note-taking app. I needed something that knew what a scene was, what a setup was, what lenses I wanted to use on a particular production.
AI shot generation came from watching how I actually used the early app: I'd plan scenes by talking through coverage in my head, then manually enter every setup. That's the part that should be faster. The 1.1 version lets you write a scene and get a starting set of shots and setups. Then, you cut what doesn't fit and keep what does. It's not meant to replace instinct. Instead, it's meant to get you a starting point from which to build a shot list that actually works.
The beta is live now. If you make films and want to tell me what's broken, I'm reading every message personally.

Who hunted FramePath?
FramePath was hunted by Miikka Putaala. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
