On this journey I discovered new words like calque, predicate in the meaning of a sentence structure and did you ever hear about the Japanese Hanko stamp? I didn’t before I went on to fully nativize the app to Japan 😀
All sales are handled by Paddle com worldwide. The idea is to keep expanding to further less used professionaly but still part-of-a-
-culture-type languages. A few native languages were thoroughly reviewed manually with other ones being even a lot more thoroughly reviewed via automation and me pasting individual strings to Google Translate straight to English to see if it conveys the right meaning. I also experimented with DeepL an AI platform that promises great language handling capabilities for the languages that it does support to cross-check my drafts & findings. You can get a free tier api with generous limits if that is something you might be interested in trying.
Next plans for the worldwide support:
- Hindu, Bengali with a full Bangladeshi jurisdiction addition
- Swahili, Afrikaans, Amharic (this might require the Arabic support preparation mentioned below)
- Expansion to Arabic formatting & font that will unlock the possibility of support for countries using languages of those origins
Another important planned expansion point is a third document type - Credit notes - Which is what is used to issue partial refunds on just a single item your customer ordered for example. These will need to be properly researched and customized for every supported jurisdiction. So it might take a week or 2 🙃
If it ever gains enough traction and becomes a proven product I'd also want to explore the possibility to create a public API to support operations of other businesses and enterprises as a separate tier which will be like buying the Pro-tier at scale with a discount
