Hey Product Hunt! 👋
I’m excited launch ForgeCode, an AI coding assistant that runs entirely in your terminal.
After trying almost every AI coding tool out there, a few problems kept coming up:
- You have to leave the terminal every time you want to use AI.
- Most tools don’t get full project context without extra setup.
- Many agents work fine for demos but break down in real projects.
What makes ForgeCode different:
- Model agnostic: works with OpenAI, Claude, Gemini, LLaMA, and others.
- Full project context: understands your codebase, dependencies, and Git history before acting.
- Two built-in agents: /muse for planning and /forge for code changes.
- Terminal native: runs directly in Bash, Zsh, and Fish.
- Open source: self-host or modify as needed.
Install: npx forgecode@latest
It is open source, model agnostic, and designed to fit into the workflows of developers who live in their terminal.
Would love to hear your feedback and what is the first thing you would try with a CLI-native coding assistant?
