A read-later app sending a typeset digest to your e-reader
I built Folio because I kept getting distracted by notifications when trying to read on my phone. Folio takes your open tabs, RSS feeds, and newsletters, and turns them into a cleanly typeset digest. You get a private email address for newsletters, and it strips out the ads and menus. Then it automatically delivers a custom PDF or EPUB directly to your reMarkable, Kindle, or Google Drive. The idea is to move your reading to an e-ink device, so you can actually focus.

I'm Bogdan, and I built Folio.
I actually started building this for myself. I realised I was waking up, grabbing my phone to read the news, and getting distracted by notifications.
I wanted to move my reading habit to my e-ink tablet instead so I could actually focus. I couldn't find a tool that did exactly what I wanted, so I wrote some scripts to automate it. It ended up being really useful, so I turned it into a full app.
Here is basically how it works.
You can save content a few different ways. There is a Chrome extension for articles or you can paste a link directly in the app, you can add your RSS feeds, or forward newsletters to a private @myfolio.so email address.
Folio takes all of that and strips out the ads, menus, and tracking pixels. Then it groups your content into a typeset issue.
It actually renders a custom typeset PDF with TOC and hyperlinks for navigation for your specific screen size, like the reMarkable 2, Paper Pro or the new Pure. You can also choose EPUB if you use a Kindle or other e-ink device.
Finally, you set a schedule. The finished issue is pushed straight into your reMarkable cloud, sent to your Kindle, or saved to Google Drive automatically.
I also recently added an optional feature called "The Brief." It uses AI to extract a few bullet points from each piece of content and puts them at the front of the digest, kind of like a preface so you know what you are about to read.
