Hey Product Hunt I'm Vinay. I built FocusReader after spending a year unable to finish a single book despite buying dozens. My brain would skim three sentences, drift, snap back, skim again. Standard reading apps treated the symptom (highlights, bookmarks). I wanted to fix the read itself. So this is the reader I built for myself: Page-flip mode: what fits on screen starts at the top, swipe to next. No infinite scroll, no losing your place mid-paragraph. Anchor emphasis: the first part of each content word is subtly bolded. NOT bionic reading. Mine skips stop words like "the" and "of" and caps the bold weight so it doesn't turn into noise. There's a 2022 CMU study on why standard bionic reading defaults actually slow you down. Read aloud with sync highlighting: tap Listen, the page reads to you while the current sentence is highlighted. Uses your browser's built-in voices. Free. Pause/resume keeps your spot. 15-minute pomodoros: ADHD research keeps landing on 10-15 min focused blocks. Default is 15, not 25. Pricing: 3 books free for life, then $4.99/month for unlimited. No subscription on free, no expiring trial. What I'd love feedback on: 1. Does the anchor emphasis help YOU specifically? There's a slider to tune it from barely visible to obvious. 2. Any reading features you wish existed that don't? Built solo over a long weekend, then 3 weeks of polish. Vercel + Neon + Cloudflare R2. Razorpay for billing. Honest about what it does NOT do yet: - Read-aloud stops when you lock your screen (browser limitation) - No native iOS/Android app, it's a PWA - Voices: Chrome > Safari > Firefox. Microsoft voices filtered out (too robotic) Ask me anything
