Focus Gym

A gym for your eyes — five minutes a day, no more

Five research-backed eye exercises for people whose near vision is starting to slip: near-far focus, pursuit tracking, convergence, Gabor patch, and blur-to-clear. Each one names the paper it is based on, and the citations are readable inside the app. One minute each, capped at five minutes a day — then it closes until tomorrow. Everything runs on your device: no account, no sync. Free and ad-supported. Not a medical treatment or device.

Hi Product Hunt 👋 A couple of years ago I noticed I was holding my phone a little further away to read it. My eye doctor was straightforward about it: this isn't something that gets cured. But he also said there's real research on training the eye and the visual cortex. I went looking for an app that just did that, without promising me my eyesight back. I couldn't find one, so I built Focus Gym. Five exercises, one minute each: • Near-Far Focus — Ciuffreda 2011 • Pursuit Tracking — Scheiman 2005 • Convergence Training — CITT 2008 • Gabor Patch — Polat 2012 • Blur-to-Clear Training — Scheiman 2005 Every one of them names the paper it's based on, and the citations are readable inside the app. Two constraints I put in on purpose: 1. It closes after five minutes. More isn't better here, and stopping while you still want more is what gets you to open it again tomorrow. 2. Nothing leaves your device. No account, no sync, no ad ID. To be clear about what this is not: Focus Gym is not a medical treatment or device, and it does not promise your eyesight will improve. If something feels off with your eyes, please see an eye doctor. Free and ad-supported, with a one-time purchase to remove the ads. Available in 8 languages. Happy to answer anything.
