Flick: Share files with a simple code
Send files with a code. Hosted or self-hosted.
Flick lets you share files with a short, human-friendly code like ocean-tiger-42 instead of a long messy link, easy to type, remember, or say over the phone. Send from the web or the terminal, the receiver just enters the code. Files self-destruct after a set time or download count. Use the free hosted server instantly (no account), or self-host with Docker for private groups and full data control. Built with Go + Next.js, HTTP/3 fast, MIT open-source.
Hey guys!
I built Flick because sharing a file always meant generating some ugly 80-character link and pasting it into chat. I wanted something I could just say: "the code is ocean-tiger-42." Done.
So that's Flick. Upload a file → get a short word-word-number code → share it however you want (even out loud). The other person enters it on the web or in their terminal and grabs the file. Everything self-destructs after a time limit or a few downloads.
Two ways to use it:
- 🌐 Free hosted server at flick.d3l.tech - no account, no setup
- 🛠️ Self-host with Docker - private groups, your rules, your data
It's Go + Next.js, MIT licensed, and there's a CLI (flick myfile.pdf) for terminal lovers.
Would love your feedback - especially what would make you self-host it vs. use the public server. AMA!
