Hey everyone, Myself Ritik, and here's my story. Well I trained with the same gym bro for 3 years straight and those were the best gains of my life! Then I moved cities for work and overnight I was alone at the bench. Funny thing is the workouts didn't get harder. Showing up did. Nobody texting me "leg day in 20." Nobody to send the post-workout selfie to. No one who actually knew what my last PR was or cared when I hit a new one. I downloaded Strava. Posted a few runs. Got some kudos from strangers in other countries. Did nothing for me. What I needed wasn't an audience. I needed a partner. I kept thinking somebody would build this. Nobody did. So I started building it myself, mostly between 10pm and 2am after work, for the past year. Then I noticed something while talking to friends. The same story kept coming up. Moved to Bangalore for the job, don't know anyone yet. Got transferred to a new city, lost the old gym crew. Switched companies, switched gyms, started over. The discipline was always there. The people weren't. That's who FitBud is for. Anyone new in a city, training alone, who used to have someone. Here's what's in it : Local leaderboards. Not global. Who in your city trained hardest this week. Lift, run, yoga, swim, your pick. The people ranked above you could literally be at your gym tomorrow. A buddy finder. Map of people near you who train like you. Filter by distance, age, workout type. Follow, message, train together. That's it. An AI coach that actually remembers you across sessions. Knows your goals, your history, last week's data. Ask it stuff like a real trainer. Privacy stuff because I knew people would ask. Locations are fuzzy by default. Home and work zones stay hidden. You decide who messages you. Quick honesty about money. Original plan was to charge for premium athlete content (their splits, their meals, all that). Built half of it. Realized I was building the wrong app. The community is the thing. Killed the subscription, kept it free, figuring out revenue a different way. Happy to get into it in comments if anyone wants. It's free on the App Store right now. If you've ever moved cities and watched your training fall apart because you lost the people, I really want to hear from you. Did I get this right? What's broken? What's missing? Tell me in the comments.
