Firmsight

Insolvency risk intelligence on every UK company

Firmsight scores insolvency risk across 5.8M UK companies — a model built on daily Companies House filings, going-concern language in fresh accounts, winding-up petitions from The Gazette, director histories, and ownership-graph structure. Unlike incumbents charging £45–200/mo to resell the same public data, Firmsight is £25/mo with published methodology: watch your customers, get alerted when their risk moves, and chase late invoices with statutory interest. Free tools, no signup required.

Hi, solo builder in London. Firmsight started as a data question: Companies House publishes every UK company's accounts, every winding-up petition, every director appointment, all public, all machine-readable, and almost nobody outside expensive credit agencies does anything with it. So I built the pipeline: ~15K sets of accounts parsed daily (including going-concern language — right now ~2% of fresh filings flag material uncertainty about survival), petitions crawled weekly, ownership graphs from recursive PSC traversal, and a gradient-boosting model over ~145 features scoring 1.6M actively trading companies (out-of-time AUC 0.84). The product became a £25/month credit controller for small businesses, watch the companies that owe you money, get an email the morning their risk moves, and chase late invoices with the statutory interest UK law already entitles you to 8% + base rate, plus £40–£100 per invoice — almost nobody claims it. Free without signup: a late-payment interest calculator that does the Bank of England reference-date proration correctly (gov.uk's own worked example simplifies it away), and a live winding-up petition tracker. Everything runs on public data under the Open Government Licence, and I'm upfront about model limits in-product. Happy to answer anything.
