Hi, I've spent 10 years in digital marketing, and over the last year I've signed up for more AI tools than I'd like to admit. The thing that kept catching me out wasn't bad products. It was the gap between what the pricing page said and what the terms actually said.
A tool advertising "unlimited" that caps blog output at 32 posts a month. A free tier that trains on your data by default while the plan one tier up doesn't, with nothing about that on the pricing page. A product sitting at 4.4 stars on one review site and 2.4 on another, because one set of reviewers is talking about features and the other is talking about billing.
So I started writing it down properly.
The approach changed a lot along the way. I started out just comparing pricing pages, and fairly quickly realised the privacy policy was where the actual information lived. Then I kept missing things, a product line here, a plan limit there, so I built a research checklist that has to be completed before any writing starts. That one change did more for quality than anything else.
The scope shifted too. It began as company overviews only. Readers kept asking tool-level questions the overviews didn't answer, so Guides and Prompts came out of that.
