File Acture
PDF, image & archive tools that never upload your files
File Acture is a desktop toolbox for Mac and Windows with 18 tools: compress a PDF to an exact size, edit, merge, split, OCR and password-protect PDFs, convert HEIC to JPG, remove photo backgrounds, extract text from images, and create password-protected ZIPs. Everything runs on your computer, so your files are never uploaded. There is a free version to try, and Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm Mahir, the maker of File Acture.
Every time I needed to shrink a PDF for an email limit or turn an iPhone photo into a JPG, I ended up on a random website, uploading contracts, IDs and bank statements to servers I knew nothing about. So I put the tools I kept searching for into one desktop app that works offline.
What you can do with it:
- Compress a PDF to an exact size: pick 5 MB, get a file under 5 MB
- Edit, merge, split, rotate, OCR and password-protect PDFs
- Convert HEIC, WebP and AVIF to JPG or PNG, then compress and resize photos in bulk
- Remove backgrounds and extract text from images, right on your computer
- Create password-protected ZIPs and open 7z archives
The Mac and Windows apps are native, share the same engine and speak 13 languages. There is a free version to try, and Pro is a one-time purchase with no subscription.
I'd love your feedback: which file task do you still open a website for?
