Fabdose

Check if your design can be made, before you ask

Can this actually be made? The factory stays quiet until you ask. A consultant is slow. ChatGPT can't see the geometry. Fabdose checks your STEP in under a minute -- manufacturability issues for the process you pick. Your CAD file never leaves your computer.

Hey everyone, I'm the solo maker behind Fabdose. I kept watching product designers hit the same wall. You finish a part, and the real question lands: can this actually be made? And right behind it, a worse one -- who do I even ask? The factory won't tell you what's wrong until you've already sent a quote request. A manufacturing consultant is expensive and slow. ChatGPT can't open your geometry, so it just guesses. So the design sits there, waiting on someone else, for days. Fabdose is the answer to that question, before you have to ask anyone. You drop a STEP file, pick the process and material, and in about a minute you get what would break in production for that process -- undercuts, draft angles, hole ratios -- mapped face by face on a 3D view, with fixes you can act on. Complex parts or CNC can take up to about two minutes. We go deepest on injection molding, because that is where the expensive mistakes happen and where no one with a conflict of interest should be the first to tell you. Two things I want to be straight about. Your CAD file never leaves your computer -- the geometry analysis runs locally. The written defect explanations are generated by cloud AI from the extracted measurements, so the findings text is processed in the cloud, but the design file itself is never uploaded. Fabdose is available now on macOS (direct download) and Windows (Microsoft Store). First 5 analyses are free, no card. I would genuinely love to hear what trips you up most when you're trying to figure out if a design is producible. What do you do today when you hit that wall?

Who hunted Fabdose?

Fabdose was hunted by nerdkick. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
