Extypis
The writing app that adapts to your genre and needs.
Extypis is a writing platform that holds your story from outline to last page. Drag scenes like index cards. An AI that knows your whole project continues your prose in your voice, not its. Ship a book-quality PDF, EPUB, or KDP-ready file in one click. Free to begin, free to finish.
I'm Hubert. Coding since my teens, writing novels and poetry for almost as long. I'd never found a writing tool that didn't force me to choose between fluidity and structure. So I built one.
My first novel was written across Word (the manuscript), Notion (character sheets) and Scrivener (the structure). Three apps for one book. Every app boundary cost me context. Extypis is the consolidation I wish I'd had — one workspace where the interface adapts to what you write. A novel doesn't need APA citations; a thesis doesn't need a syllable counter. Same editor, different surfaces.
The pieces I'm proudest of:
✍️ Fiction — three narrative frameworks (3-act, Save the Cat-style, Hero's Journey), drag-and-drop scene reordering, @mentions linked to character / place / object sheets, multi-sheet editing for revision passes.
🎓 Academic — auto-numbered footnotes, 7 citation styles (APA, MLA, Chicago, IEEE, Harvard, Vancouver) reformatted in one click, book-quality PDF via LaTeX, ISBN lookup that auto-fills references.
🎭 Poetry — phonetic syllable analysis with mute-e and elision handling, readability scoring, passive voice and connector detection.
🤖 The AI — and here's where I had to make a call. I refuse AI that writes for you. The Extypis AI stays silent while you write and only speaks when called. It reads your whole project — outline, sheets, scenes already written — so suggestions stay in your voice, not its. Tab to unblock a sentence. A continuity check that catches contradictions across 300 pages. An assistant in the sidebar with full project context.
📦 Finishing — book-quality PDF, EPUB, KDP-ready files in one click. Built-in Amazon KDP publishing with editor-grade typography templates (the equivalent of Vellum or Atticus, in your browser).
Pricing: free tier covers a real working draft, AI credits included. The paid plan extends AI quotas and lifts a few limits. No card to begin, lifetime updates on the paid plan.
I built this because I needed it. I still keep my own poetry on it. If you write seriously — fiction, thesis, essay, screenplay — I'd love to know which feature lands for you. I'll be around all day.

Extypis was hunted by Hubert Giorgi. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post.
