Open Sourced Verision of Claude Cowork and Manus Desktop

EverFern is a free, open-source AI agent that uses your computer like you would: clicking, typing, filling forms, navigating apps, running full workflows from plain English. Think local alternative to Claude Cowork or Manus Desktop, no subscription, no cloud, nothing leaves your machine. Works with local models (Ollama, LM Studio) or your own cloud API keys. Early beta, MIT licensed, built in the open.

Hey everyone 👋 I built EverFern because I liked what tools like Claude Cowork and Manus were doing, but didn't love paying $20-200/month for something I couldn't audit or run offline. So I built a version that runs entirely on your machine. It can click through apps, fill out forms, edit PDFs and spreadsheets, write code, and run shell commands, all inside an isolated VM so it can't mess with your actual system. It's early (v0.1.5, beta). Windows installer is ready, macOS is build-from-source for now. There are rough edges and things that don't work yet. I'd love your honest feedback, what's missing, what breaks, what you'd want it to do that it doesn't yet. I'll be here all day answering questions. Repo's fully open if you want to poke around: https://github.com/Everfern-AI/E...

Who hunted GitHub?

GitHub was hunted by Coden. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
