Hi, I'm Henry.
I've played piano for about 8 years and guitar a bit longer. I also run: 100-mile ultra finisher, chasing a sub-17 5k - so I'm never without my Garmin watch.
Here's the thing that bugged me. Every run I do is logged and I can see my progress/consistency using Strava. With music I had nothing. I was scribbling sessions on random bits of paper, and when I stopped measuring it, I stopped focusing - I'd sit down and noodle for twenty minutes and call it practice.
So I built Etuda. It's Strava for musicians.
Start a session from your watch. Hit start when you sit down, hit stop when you're done. No phone, no interruption. It syncs to the app on its own.
Keep a record that's actually useful. Log what you played, how long, how it went. Track pieces from first read-through to performance. Attach sheet music, photos, even a video of the run you're proud of. Streaks, weekly goals, personal records and a practice heatmap fall out of it automatically.
And it's not solo. This is the part I care most about. Practising is lonely in a way running isn't - nobody sees the hours. So Etuda has a friend feed: your friends see what you're working on, they can leave a bravo or a comment, and there's a leaderboard if you're competitive. The accountability is the feature. It's the reason Strava works, and it's exactly what music practice has been missing.
