Sorts Etsy product photos even when they're named IMG_4471
Files each product photo into a folder named after the Etsy listing it belongs to. The hard part isn't the photos you named well — it's IMG_4471.png and everything else your camera named. Those get compared against the photos that did match, and filed with the product they actually look like. The problem I kept hitting: photo organizers sort by category, so 200
near-identical listings collapse into one giant "t-shirts" folder. That's
exactly as useless as the mess you started with.
So this matches against your individual listing titles instead. Two designs
differing by one word land in two different folders.
But the thing I spent most time on is what happens when the filename tells you
nothing, which is most of the time. IMG_4471.png can't be matched by name at
all. So it gets compared against the photos that did match, and filed with the
product it looks like. On my test shop that took correct filing from 8 of 32
photos to 32 of 32, with none misfiled.
The other half of the work was making it refuse. If it isn't confident, the
photo doesn't move — it gets flagged and stays where it was. Every run writes a
manifest you can reverse. I'd rather it file nothing than file something wrong.
One honest limit: two products differing only in colour (the same mug in blue
and red) look the same to it. It notices it can't tell them apart and leaves
those alone rather than guessing.
Everything runs locally — your photos never leave your machine. There's a "Try
it with sample photos" button so you can see it work before connecting anything.
Mac version is in App Store review, so today it's Windows only.
Free for 200 photos. Standard and Pro are one-time, not subscriptions — I didn't
want to charge rent on a utility.
