Hello Product Hunt community! 👋
I’m the creator of the ESP32-C3 Internet Radio. Over the last few months, I've been experimenting with building DIY hardware that outperforms cheap commercial devices through better software architecture. Yesterday it was custom HID devices, and today it’s this audio system.
Most cheap factory-made internet radios suffer from freezing, weak WiFi recovery, and clunky interfaces. I wanted to fix that using a budget $3 RISC-V chip (ESP32-C3) and a Class-D MAX98357A amplifier. By decoupling the architecture inside FreeRTOS (Audio Decoder > Network > Display), the playback stays buttery smooth even during heavy network drops or while rendering 60 FPS cyberpunk hexagon visualizers on the OLED.
The entire project is 100% open-source, from the custom LittleFS-backed Async Web UI to the complete Bill of Materials (~$5-10 total cost on AliExpress).
I’d love to hear your thoughts on the UI, the visualization physics, or my FreeRTOS task choices. If you love DIY tech, grab the code and build your own over the weekend!
Thank you for your support! 📻⚡
