ER Compass
Find emergency care in Korea, in English and Korean
Find emergency departments in South Korea without getting lost in translation. ER Compass brings reported bed availability, hospital contacts, and notices into one English/Korean interface. Browse by region or start near your location, with official public data refreshed every five minutes. Free in your browser, no signup. Hospital-written notices stay in Korean. Call ahead to confirm care.
I built ER Compass because finding emergency care in an unfamiliar country is difficult, especially when you don’t speak the language.
As more international visitors come to South Korea, I wanted to make emergency department information easier to access. For someone unfamiliar with local services, even knowing where emergency departments are and checking their reported availability can be challenging.
Existing services are primarily designed for Korean users and often connect to familiar local platforms such as KakaoTalk. I wanted an experience that visitors could navigate more easily, with an English interface and Google Maps links.
ER Compass brings reported bed availability, hospital contact details, and notices together in one place. It collects official public data every five minutes and supports both English and Korean. Hospital-written notices are preserved in Korean; full translation is not yet available.
Reported availability does not guarantee admission, so please call ahead. In an emergency in South Korea, call 119.
I’d love feedback from travelers and international residents: what information would make finding emergency care in Korea easier for you?
