Encoder

Send secrets that self-destruct after one read

Encoder turns any message into an encrypted one-time link. It's encrypted in your browser (AES-256-GCM), the key never reaches our server, and the message is deleted the moment it's opened. No account needed. $19.99 once, no subscription.

Hi Product Hunt, maker here 👋

I kept needing to send someone a password or an API key, and every channel I had (WhatsApp, email, Slack) just keeps it. Forever. In two inboxes, in backups, on linked devices, in a screenshot someone forgot they took.

So I built Encoder. You write a message, it's encrypted in your browser, and you get a link. Whoever opens it reads it once — the moment it's opened, the record is deleted from the server.

How it works, for the curious: the decryption key lives in the part of the URL after the "#", which browsers never send to a server. So my server only ever stores ciphertext it can't read.

Being upfront about the limits:
• It's closed-source for now (open-sourcing is on the roadmap)
• No third-party security audit yet — it's a solo build
• It fixes the storage problem, not screenshots: nothing can stop someone photographing their screen
• The link itself is sensitive until it's opened

Pricing: a few free messages to try it, then $19.99 once for unlimited sends. No subscription — I didn't want to add another recurring charge to anyone's life.

I'd love feedback on two things: is the one-time-link flow clear on first use, and would you trust it more with an audit or with open source first? I'll be here all day answering questions.

Launch offer: 30% off with code PH30 until Oct 1
