I'm Dmytro, the developer behind emailval.
The problem: email validation APIs are expensive. ZeroBounce charges $0.008/email, NeverBounce $0.007. If you're cleaning a list of 1 million addresses, that's $8,000. Most of that cost isn't justified by the underlying work.
So I built emailval — a five-layer validation pipeline at $0.0008/email. Ten times cheaper.
How it works technically:
Layer 1: RFC 5321/5322 syntax check (<1ms, no network call)
Layer 2: Async DNS MX lookup with Redis caching
Layer 3: Checked against 350,000+ disposable domain blocklist (updated weekly)
Layer 4: Catch-all detection via SMTP probe with random UUID address
Layer 5: Full EHLO → MAIL FROM → RCPT TO handshake — no email is ever sent
The result is a deliverability score 0–100. 100 = mailbox confirmed. 60 = valid but provider (Gmail/Outlook) blocks SMTP verification. 20 = disposable or catch-all. 0 = invalid.
