Whilst completing my Master’s degree in Agricultural Technology and Innovation, I realised just how overwhelming university can become. As someone with dyslexia, I found that the hardest part often wasn’t understanding the subject, it was keeping on top of everything surrounding it. Assignment briefs, deadlines, lecture notes, sources, referencing, revision, planning, word counts… suddenly you’re spending half your time organising university rather than actually learning. And I kept thinking: university shouldn’t require you to choose between having a life and doing well academically. You should be able to go out, meet people, join societies, travel, work, make questionable decisions on a Wednesday night, learn something you genuinely care about and still be ambitious about your degree. So I started building Elo. I wanted one place that could help students understand their assignments, stay organised, find and manage sources, record and make sense of lectures, revise, plan their workload and move through an assignment from brief to submission without the whole thing feeling completely overwhelming. Most importantly, I didn’t want to build something that simply does the degree for you. I wanted to build something that makes doing it yourself much easier. Elo started with a problem I was experiencing personally, but the more students I spoke to, the more obvious it became that I wasn’t the only one. So here we are Elo is for students with a life. I’d genuinely love to hear what you think, and what part of university life you wish someone would make easier.

Who hunted Elo ?

Elo was hunted by Lucy Hawkins. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
