EchoDuck lets you share static websites and large files directly from your laptop. No installs, no uploads, no tracking! Just an ad-hoc, private Static Web Server with 1 click.
🙀 The problem:
I want to make this folder on my laptop available to my friend, but I don't want to upload it to GitHub Pages.
🧀 The solution:
If only there were a way to create a Static Web Server and have it publicly available with one click.
📣 EchoDuck is a product I built to solve my own problem.
I hosted Static Web Servers on my laptop before, but only because I had access to my local router and I could set those all-important Port Forwarding rules.
But what if I'm on a WiFi at McDonald's or I'm on my mobile data connection?
Features, a.k.a. the things I needed:
✅ 1 click
✅ No installs
✅ No file uploads
✅ No tracking
✅ Password protection
✅ Local HTTP requests logs
✅ SSL-encrypted connections
✅ Free! (within reason)
How I use EchoDuck:
💎 Sharing sensitive information (like bank statements and client work)
💎 Demoing static websites to my clients
💎 Using the tool as a collaborator in Penetration Testing
🎉 The best part: when I want to shut down my Static Web Server, I just close the tab. That's it!
