Who hunted Earthling Maps?
Earthling Maps was hunted by Brian T. Jacobs. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. Hi, I'm Brian, the founder and creator of Earthling Maps, and I'm thrilled to announce its release!
I spent over a decade making maps and graphics for organizations like National Geographic, ProPublica, and MIT, and learned the hard way that making an attractive map to add context to a story is deceptively difficult and time-consuming, whether you're a mapping professional or just someone with a newsletter.
Earthling Maps is the answer to this: it's an app for people of all skill levels to easily create maps that live inside stories, that are tailored to your content, and that drop easily into where you already work. That includes Substack, Canva, WordPress, Figma, MS Office, Adobe CC, Instagram, LinkedIn, Bluesky, your self-hosted CMS or website, and so on.
You'll make maps that make your message immediately more comprehensible and impactful by orienting your audience to your story. In the gallery, check out a few examples of what you can create—maps used in newsletters, websites, presentations, and on social media, adding context to stories in ways that words alone can't express.
