I built Dynasty House because the big genealogy sites quietly hold your family hostage. You spend months building a tree, then the moment you stop paying, it's locked - and getting your own data out is deliberately painful.
So I made the opposite. GEDCOM import and export are always free. Your first 100 people are free. Everything stays exportable and yours, forever. Flat $4/month if you go unlimited - the price you join at is the price you keep.
But the deeper idea is this: there was only ever one of each of your ancestors. Not thirty broken copies scattered across thirty private accounts — one real person, whose record gets richer as relatives add sources, photos and corrections. That's what we're building toward: a shared, sourced family record that connects outward and belongs to no single company.
A couple of things I'm proud of:
- An AI Historian that knows your tree and helps you find the brick walls
- An open API (and soon MCP) so an AI agent can read and responsibly improve your tree — last week one researched a 17th-century ancestor and corrected the records via the API
- Beautiful public "House" pages for sharing a lineage
