How do you plan how much water to carry on a hike? I was optimizing the weight of all my equipment: Tent, sleeping bag, backpack, everything ultralight. The only thing that didn't have a technological option to save weight: Water. I started with 6 liters in the desert of New Mexico when I started the Continental Divide Trail in 2024. Dropped half of it after a mile, because it was too heavy. So - would you use an app that tells you where the next water is, so you can carry accordingly?
