DriveNest – Google Drive Analyzer
Clean your Google Drive. Know who sees your files.
Most of us have no idea what's actually lurking in our Google Drive — duplicate files, forgotten attachments, and stuff shared years ago that's still publicly accessible. DriveNest scans your Drive metadata in read-only mode and shows you exactly what's eating your storage and who still has access — through multiple unique and interactive charts and visualizations, topped with a 0–100 security score dashboard that tells you exactly where you stand.
I'm László, a cloud automation engineer from Budapest who spent way too many nights building an Android app instead of sleeping.
It all started with a Python script in Google Colab — just me trying to figure out what was eating my Google Drive storage. Technically it worked, but honestly it was the kind of tool only a Python and Colab geek could apreciate. Not exactly something I could show my wife and say "here, try this."
The real reason I rolled my own instead of using existing tools? I simply didn't trust them with my Drive. Most consumer apps ask for way more access than they actually need. So I built DriveNest around one hard rule: read Drive metadata only, never touch actual file content.
And this wasn't just a design choice — Google enforces it too. Even metadata-readonly access requires passing a CASA Tier 2 security assessment, an independent third-party audit that verifies the app handles your data responsibly. DriveNest passed it. Most apps never bother.
That same thinking shaped one decision people sometimes find suprising - DriveNest doesn't delete files directly. Instead it generates Apps Script, PowerShell or Bash cleanup scripts that you run yourself. Your data, your call.
The flagship is the interactive sunburst chart - your entire Drive folder hierarchy as concentric rings, where arc size reflects storage used. It turns what used to be a hopeless folder list into something you can actually see and understand. Took me a while to get it right but I'm really proud of how it turned out.
The security audit genuinely suprised me during development. Turns out most people have files shared publicly that they completely forgot about. DriveNest surfaces all of that with a 0–100 security score.
