Drift
Three hours a night is five years of your life
Most people don't ruin their lives. They drift. No decision, no bad year - just evenings that went somewhere, until the somewhere became the life. Drift draws your life as about 4,170 weeks: the lived ones dark, the rest still yours. Three hours a night is five years of what's left. One honest tap a night. Five minutes on Sunday, then the week is sealed. Name what's running out - a parent you visit, a child at home - and Drift counts what's really left. No streaks. Nothing resets.
I have four apps on the App Store and, together, almost no users. So when something in my own life wasn't working, I did the thing I always do, and opened Xcode.
To test the thing I was building, I had to enter my own birth year. The grid filled in - the weeks I have already spent dark, the ones I have left pale, shaded by the way I am currently spending them. I knew roughly what the number would be. I had done that arithmetic in my head before.
Seeing it filled in is not the same as knowing it.
Drift is that, as an app. It draws your life as about 4,170 weeks. It asks one question a night. On Sunday it asks what the week actually was, and then it seals it - you cannot edit a sealed week, because a record you can revise is not a record.
There are no streaks in it. Nothing resets. A missed week is a fact, not a verdict, and the whole category's reflex of dropping you to zero on your worst day is the thing I most wanted to avoid building.
You see your own grid, and the mirror, before Drift asks you for anything. After that there is a week free, and then it is paid - a year, or once, forever.
Happy to answer anything - especially about the no-streaks decision, which was much harder to design than a counter.

Who hunted Drift?
Drift was hunted by Josip Petric. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
