Hi Product Hunt,
I built Lightning P2P because sending files from Windows still feels more complicated than it should.
Most file transfer tools either upload files somewhere first, require an account, only work on the same local network, or feel too technical for normal users. I wanted something closer to: select a file, generate a link or QR code, and send it directly.
Lightning P2P is open-source and currently available for Windows, with an Android sideload alpha. It uses Rust, Tauri, iroh/QUIC and BLAKE3 verification. Transfers are direct-first, with relay fallback when a direct connection is blocked. There is no account system and no cloud storage bucket.
I’m not claiming speed leadership yet. Proper public benchmarks still need to be published.
I’d really appreciate feedback on:
- the file transfer flow
- Windows installer trust/signing
- NAT traversal reliability
- the security model
- whether macOS/Linux or Android should be prioritized next
