India has 50 million rental units. 97% still managed through WhatsApp messages, cash envelopes, and paper receipts. I kept looking for a tool that solved this simply and couldn't find one — everything built for this space was either too complex, too expensive, or built for a different market entirely. The biggest lesson building Domvio: the hardest discipline was deleting features, not writing them. The first version had NRI mode, document vaults, utility splitting, digital lease signing. None of the beta landlords cared. Stripped it back to three things — remind, collect, receipt — and that's when people actually got it. The WhatsApp bot ended up being the feature that surprised me most. Landlords who would never consistently open a dashboard will reply to a WhatsApp message. Meeting them where they already are removed more friction than any UI improvement ever could. Launching in Bengaluru today. Would love feedback from anyone who's dealt with this problem or built in the proptech / fintech space. app.domvio.in
