DLEncoder
AAMVA PDF417 test barcodes, in your browser
DLEncoder generates AAMVA-compliant PDF417 barcodes — the data on the back of US driver licenses and IDs — for engineering and QA testing. Unlike other tools, it requires no signup and gives full control over every field and jurisdiction subfile. Covers both the v10 and the new v11 (2025 CDS) standards. It also decodes and diagnoses real scans, flagging preamble, CRLF, and length issues. Runs entirely in your browser — nothing uploads. Free.
I built DLEncoder out of frustration. Every AAMVA barcode tool I found either made you register before you could generate a single test payload, or gave you a fixed template with no real control. None let you set every field.
So this one does the opposite:
No signup. Open it and generate. Free.
Full field-level control. Every AAMVA element ID, optional and mandatory, plus jurisdiction subfiles (the Z-prefixed ones like TX LTC) that other tools just ignore.
Both standards. v10 (2020) and the new v11 (2025 CDS).
Encode and decod. Paste a payload or scan a real card with a keyboard-wedge scanner, and it parses the structure and flags problems: missing preamble bytes, CRLF issues, unknown element IDs, length mismatches.
Client-side only. Nothing uploads.
Built for anyone integrating ID scanners!
