Dino Strike
The lost Flash brawler, back from the dead and playable now
Remember Dino Strike? The forgotten arcade classic returns, rebuilt for the modern web. Jump into action, take on dangerous enemies, face returning bosses, and fight your way through the campaign without installing a Flash plugin. With multiple difficulty modes, enhanced boss encounters, a six-slot save system, and Photo Mode, this restoration brings a childhood favourite back to life while adding new ways to play. Flash may be gone, but the dinosaurs aren't.
Back in 2015, I used to play Dino Strike on Miniclip. It was one of those browser games I kept coming back to, fighting waves of enemies, facing dangerous bosses, and surviving a chaotic world filled with dinosaurs. Then Flash disappeared in 2020, and games like this became much harder to revisit. I held on to the original game file, hoping I could play it again someday.
Years later, I finally brought it back.
Dino Strike now runs in the browser using the Ruffle emulator, with no plugin or installation required. But getting it running was only the beginning. I wanted to do more than preserve a game I remembered. I wanted to improve the experience while keeping the spirit of the original intact.
🎮 Game Modes Choose between Easy, Normal, and Hard, each offering a different level of challenge through enemy numbers and aggression. For those who want more action, optional Extras introduce additional enemies and gameplay mechanics, including weapon drops, health-restoring food, and allied dinosaurs on Hard. Infinite Ammo adds another layer of freedom, keeping your guns, knives, and grenades ready throughout the fight.
🤯 Insane Mode Insane Mode takes you through all four stages at Hard difficulty, with Extras enabled throughout. Expect crowded encounters, tougher fights, returning bosses, and allied dinosaurs. All four Hard stages are available, while Easy and Normal are locked out. Survival becomes a different kind of challenge when the screen fills with enemies. Fortunately, defeated enemies can drop food that fully restores your health.
💪 Boss Encounters The boss battles received some of the biggest changes. In Stage 3, the bosses from the first two stages return on every difficulty, introduced by a new mini-cutscene before the fight begins. Their crews join the encounter, adding another layer of challenge as you face multiple threats.
The final boss brings an additional twist: just when victory seems within reach, his transformation triggers a second phase, turning the encounter into a whole new battle.
📸 Photo Mode: Capture the chaos. Make it yours.
Not every great moment needs to end with the fight. Photo Mode lets you freeze the action mid-battle and turn your favorite in-game moments into custom shots. Apply cinematic, noir, vintage, and other filters, fine-tune image adjustments, add frames, and crop each shot to get the composition just right. When you're happy with the result, download your creation and share it with the world.
💾 Progress & Persistence I also built a six-slot save system that lets players preserve their progress and return to the action whenever they want, without having to start over. Each slot records a screenshot, play time, current stage, difficulty, score, and remaining lives, making it easy to identify and resume a previous run.
❤️ Why I Brought It Back This started with a game I loved playing in 2015. It became a project about preserving a piece of browser-game history, refining the gameplay and adding new reasons to return. I've shared the major improvements, but some of the best moments are waiting inside the game itself.
