Dialog
Private messenger. No phone number, no email, open source.
End-to-end encrypted chats, groups and calls without a phone number: your account is a random number, not your SIM. Disappearing messages, view-once photos, desktop + mobile in sync. AGPL-3.0, server in Germany, no ads.
Hi Product Hunt! I'm the developer of Dialog.
I built it because every "private" messenger I tried still wanted my phone number, which ties my identity to a SIM card and to whoever can see it. Dialog gives you a random account number instead; people find you by @username or QR code.
What's inside:
• End-to-end encryption for messages, photos, files, voice notes and one-to-one or group calls
• Disappearing messages per chat and view-once photos
• The same account on Windows, macOS, Linux, Android and iPhone, kept in sync
• Several accounts on one computer, each locked with its own password
• Everything open source (AGPL-3.0), including the server, so you can self-host; the public server is in Germany
It's early and it's a one-person project, so I'd love to hear what you'd need to switch your family or team to it. Happy to answer anything about the crypto or the architecture.

Who hunted Dialog?
Dialog was hunted by Craciun Florentin. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
