That frustration sat with me for months. With everyone talking about building with AI, I wanted to actually test it: how far could one designer get on nights and weekends, no engineering team?
What started as a weekend hack turned into the most honest product education I've had. I learned that curation IS the product, when my feed kept drifting into Prime Day deals instead of design thinking. That mobile is unforgiving, when bugs appeared only on real iPhones and never in the simulator. That deliverability is a discipline, when my first newsletter landed straight in spam. That you can't fight Gmail's dark mode, you design for its inversion.
Designator today: 75+ sources, twice-daily pulls, AI summaries, named editions (today's is The Hi-res Pulse), full search across 1000+ stories, email digest, and a pixel-retro skin because a design briefing should look designed. Built with Next.js, Supabase, Gemini, and Claude Code.
