Hi Product Hunt! I'm Kir, and I've been building desigma: a free, open-source design tool that runs natively on Windows, macOS and Linux.
I wanted a design tool I actually own. No account, no seats, no subscription, files on my own disk, and source code I can read and change. So desigma is written in pure Rust, with its own renderer, and it works offline.
What's in it today:
• Frames, auto layout, components with variants and properties, variables with modes
• Prototyping with Smart Animate, plus a Motion timeline with keyframes, springs and 41 presets (export to GIF/WebM)
• Whiteboards (stickies, connectors, timer and voting) and slide decks, in the same app
• Dev mode with CSS, Tailwind, React, SwiftUI and Compose, and an MCP server so AI agents can edit the open file
• It opens .fig files and REST JSON exports
New this week: live collaboration. Click Share, send the link, and everyone edits the same file in real time with cursors and Follow. It's peer-to-peer and encrypted, so there's still no account and no server. If you want a file online all the time, you can run desigma-server on a VPS.
It's an early alpha, so expect rough edges. Builds aren't code-signed yet, so your OS will warn you on first launch (the install guide explains the one click).
I'd love to hear what you'd need to switch for a real project, and what breaks. I'll be here all day answering.

Who hunted desigma?
desigma was hunted by Kir Leshkevich. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. See the full all-time top hunters leaderboard to discover who is shaping the Product Hunt ecosystem.
