Ireland has about 20,000 derelict houses, and a housing crisis, at the same time. Almost none of them are for sale. They're not on Daft or MyHome because they were never listed, they're just empty. Each council keeps its own register of them. There are 31 registers, mostly PDFs, and basically nobody reads them. I scrape all of them every night. The scraping isn't the hard part. The hard part is that the same house shows up with a slightly different address every year and you have to work out it's the same house. The registers leave out the parts that actually matter: - Up to €70k of grant money for doing one of these up. €50k for a vacant home, another €20k if it's formally derelict. - The owner has been accruing a levy of 7% of market value every year it's sat there. Some of them now owe more than the house is worth. - How long it's been on the register. That's the best signal of a seller who's given up, and nobody publishes it. About 2,000 properties across 27 councils so far. Free to browse.
