DeCite

Make any AI chat permanently citable: no account needed

Journals, supervisors, and courts now expect you to disclose AI use, but AI conversations are uniquely unpreservable. DeCite seals any AI conversation into a permanent, timestamped record with a citation code and ready-to-paste references in 6 styles. No account, no signup, currently free. The record lives on independent public infrastructure, so it stays verifiable even if we disappear. For grad students, researchers, and anyone who needs their AI disclosure to actually hold up.

Top comment

I built DeCite after running into a small but real problem: journals and supervisors now ask you to disclose AI use, but the thing you're supposed to cite, the conversation itself, is the one source that won't stay put. ChatGPT share links break when you delete the chat, screenshots aren't verifiable, and APA's own guidance is "paste the whole transcript into an appendix because it isn't retrievable." DeCite turns a conversation (a share link, or pasted text for tools that don't share) into a permanent, timestamped record with a short citation code like DC-20260619-01, plus a ready-to-paste citation in APA/MLA/Chicago/Harvard/IEEE/ BibTeX. No account, currently free. The record is stored on two independent public registries that no single company controls, so anyone can verify a citation even if DeCite disappears, that Independence was the whole point for me.
