Hey everyone! 👋 I’m incredibly excited to share v1.0 of DeadInternet with you today.
Over the last year, browsing the web has started to feel like wading through an endless stream of automated, synthetic noise. The "Dead Internet" isn't just a theory anymore; it's a structural problem with how we consume daily feeds.
I wanted a way to cut through the slop, but existing AI detectors are mostly clunky enterprise tools built for grading essays. Plus, the idea of routing my entire social media feed through a third-party cloud server just to check if a post was real felt like a massive privacy trade-off.
So, I built this. DeadInternet is a Chrome extension that runs local analysis right on your machine to flag AI-generated content natively in your feed as you scroll.
Key focuses for v1.0:
Privacy First: All analysis happens locally on the client side. No API round-trips, no data logging.
Zero Latency: Because it runs locally, it flags content instantly without slowing down your browsing experience.
Clean Integration: I prioritized a minimalist, unobtrusive UI that feels like a native layer on top of the platforms you already use.
