Daywatch

Shift scheduling that understands plain English

Building a staff schedule manually takes hours. Getting it right, covering every shift while respecting labor rules, certifications, and individual contracts, often takes much longer. Daywatch does it in one click. Describe your rules in plain language. Workers share their preferences the same way. The AI reads everything and generates a fully optimized schedule adapted to your team's exact needs, automatically. Built for any team that runs on shifts.

Hey everyone! 👋

I’m Moran, the founder of Daywatch.

Whenever I tell people I built a shift scheduling platform, the first question is always: "Aren't there already dozens of scheduling tools out there?"

The answer is yes.

But almost every manager I spoke with, whether running a nursing department, a security team, or a retail floor, was still managing their shifts in Excel and chaotic WhatsApp groups.

🛑 Why existing tools fail real teams

Most scheduling tools are rigid boxes. They assume every team operates like a textbook case study.

In reality, no two teams have the same rules. One team has strict union agreements on turnaround times. Another has specific seniority preferences or mandatory skill mixes for night shifts. The moment a software tool can't handle a team's unique quirks, managers give up on it and go right back to spreadsheets.

💡 What we do differently at Daywatch

We don’t force your team into a rigid template. We use AI to customize the scheduling engine around how your specific team actually works:

  • 🧩 Tailored rules in plain words: Tell the system your constraints in plain English (e.g., "Nobody works night shift then morning shift within 12 hours", or "Always pair a junior guard with a senior"). The AI turns those into hard scheduling logic specifically for your organization.

  • ⚡ Schedules that actually work on the first try: It builds the roster around worker availability, fairness, and your exact compliance rules without manual puzzle-solving.

  • 📱 Workers don’t need another app: Shifts, open-shift broadcasts, and swap requests go straight to workers on WhatsApp and email. They can claim an open shift in one tap without downloading anything.

  • 🔄 Fast coverage when someone calls in sick: The system instantly finds qualified, available replacements who won't trigger overtime violations.

🚢 Built with real operators (and shipping every week)

We didn’t build Daywatch in a vacuum. We’ve been developing this hand-in-hand with operations managers in security, logistics, and healthcare. Every edge case, rule type, and solver optimization comes from real-world shift breakdowns.

Who hunted Daywatch?

Daywatch was hunted by Moran Danieli-Cohen. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
