Who hunted daub?
daub was hunted by Nicolas Demanez. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community. As a new MacOS user, which came from Windows, I was used to right click the desktop and create a .txt file to take notes using NotePad that was fully offline, lightweight and efficient. Then delete it.
Even the Notes app from Apple is too broad for me to quickly take notes, ends up with notes that are easily forgettable, daub is made to be ephemeral.
So I built daub, lives in the menu bar, open it with a shortcut (Option Space) from anywhere, take a few notes, ESC to hide. Once you're done, CMD+K to clear it and start blank. Or keep your notes until forever inside.
If you are in the same situation, this is for you!
