Hey Product Hunt! 👋
Dartulator started with a pretty simple problem: my friends and I started playing darts on weekends, but we couldn't find a scoring app we actually enjoyed using.
So I thought, why not build one myself?
The funny part? **I'm not an Android developer.** 😂
I used AI heavily throughout the development, but this quickly became much more than asking AI to generate some code.
I designed the product and UX, planned the development, tested it with real users, learned how to get an app through Google Play's publishing process, and built a workflow around AI for development, testing and iteration.
For Google Play's closed testing, I had to find **12 people willing to join through a testing link and download the app**. My friends actually used it while we played darts. My family also downloaded it, despite having absolutely no reason to ever use a darts scoring app. 😂
After 16 releases in roughly one month, Dartulator is now live.
It includes 501, practice modes, tournaments, team games, statistics, offline text-to-speech and some fun voice reactions in English and Lithuanian.
The biggest thing I learned?
AI can make development much faster, but it doesn't replace product thinking.
The real work was figuring out what to build, testing it with real people, listening to feedback and continuously improving it.
