Daily Murder
A new murder mystery to solve every day, by pure logic
Daily Murder drops a new whodunit every morning. Read witness testimony and forensics, then work an elimination grid to pin down the killer, weapon, and location. Every puzzle has a guaranteed unique solution. Monday eases you in. Friday throws a lying witness into the mix. Solve all seven days to unlock Sunday's conspiracy. Free in any browser. Android app adds streaks, leagues, and daily reminders. Ten minutes a day.
I'm Mark. Built this over six months as a solo project.
The puzzle generator took longer than the app itself. Each case gets assembled from a content library (60 suspects, 30 weapons, 176 locations, 67 informant characters), then a solver checks it has exactly one answer. If it doesn't, the puzzle gets binned and a new one generates. No AI creates the content.
One puzzle a day, about ten minutes. It fills the same slot as the morning crossword or Wordle.
Hosting costs are basically nothing because everything is pre-generated and cached on a CDN. A Cloudflare Worker verifies answers server-side so nobody can cheat by reading the client code. That's how free-with-ads stays viable for one person.
Interested to hear if the difficulty curve lands right. Mondays should feel approachable. Fridays should make you work for it.

Who hunted Daily Murder?
Daily Murder was hunted by Mark Andrews. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
