DadKit: Fatherhood Field Guide
The pregnancy app built for the dad in the room.
DadKit is a free iOS app for expectant fathers. Week-by-week updates from your perspective, a food & medication safety lookup, contraction timer, kick counter, and appointment prep — from the first trimester to the delivery room.
My wife and I found out she was pregnant and I immediately did what any reasonable person does: downloaded every pregnancy app I could find.
Every single one was built for her.
Symptom trackers, mood logs, week-by-week updates about what she was feeling. Which, yeah, makes sense — she was doing the hard part. But there was nothing for the person standing next to her trying to figure out what was actually happening, what she can and can't eat, or what the anatomy scan was even looking for.
I started building something small for myself. A question tracker so I'd stop asking "which appointment is this again?" in the parking lot. Then a safety lookup so I could check whether a food was pregnancy-safe without texting her midwife at 9pm or just blindly trusting Google. Then a contraction timer that worked one-handed in the dark.
That became DadKit.
It's a free iOS app — week-by-week updates written from the dad's perspective, food and medication safety lookup, contraction timer, kick counter, appointment calendar with prep questions for each visit, and a full field guide from conception to year five. The core tools are free and stay free. There's DadKit+ for the deeper content — with a 30-day trial.
I'm Chace. First-time dad — built this during the pregnancy, shipped it about a month ago. Happy to answer anything — what's in it, what's not, what I got wrong, what you'd want to see. Drop a question below!
