Cyphro
Password-protect and disguise files on any device
Cyphro helps you protect sensitive files directly on your device. Secure files with a password, disguise them as other file types, and keep full control of your data without uploads, accounts, or cloud storage. Everything runs locally in your browser, making file protection accessible from virtually any device.
I'm Igor, the creator of Cyphro and perhaps a little paranoid.
I don't like sharing personal documents over the internet. Any account can be compromised, and sensitive data can get into the wrong hands. But sometimes it is imperative to transfer a file between devices or send it to someone else. How can I do it safely? By protecting it with a password.
Can I trust online encryption tools with my personal documents? Not really. They upload files to a server, whereas local alternatives require installation and aren't available on every platform.
That's why I created Cyphro - a web application for protecting sensitive files without relying on cloud services, accounts, or software installation.
Cyphro takes a different approach: • Secure files with a password directly on your device • Disguise protected files as other file types • Works entirely in the browser • Supports common file types • No uploads, no accounts, no tracking • Open source
Everything happens locally, so your files never leave your device.
This is the first release of Cyphro. I'd love to hear your thoughts, ideas, and feedback.

Who hunted Cyphro?
Cyphro was hunted by Igor. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it. Hunters typically write the first comment explaining why a product is worth attention, and their followers are notified the moment they post. Around 79% of featured launches on Product Hunt are self-hunted by their makers, but a well-known hunter still acts as a signal of quality to the rest of the community.
