Hi Product Hunt! Disclosure: I built CropPass, and downloads are paid. Why it exists: passport and visa forms are picky about the file, not only the face. The DS-160 wants a square JPEG between 600×600 and 1200×1200 px and no bigger than 240 KB. China's visa form wants 354×472 px and between 40 and 120 KB. Most photo tools hand you a nicely cropped picture and leave the file to you. So CropPass starts from the document. Pick the form you're filling in (the DS-160, the UK online passport, the OCI card and more), or one of 18 countries that accept home-made passport photos. It marks the allowed head size on screen, checks the photo against that document's rules and exports the file or a print sheet. A few things I cared about: - Your photo never leaves your device. Everything, face checks included, runs in your browser. No upload, no account. - Each document page links the source its numbers come from and the date I last checked them. - It says no when it should. The US and UK forms don't allow edited photos, so CropPass never retouches them, and the UK online form crops the photo itself, so CropPass leaves that framing alone. German passports applied for in Germany now need a certified photographer, so that page explains this instead of offering the tool. Pricing: the preview is free, so you can check your photo before you pay, and you can download a watermarked sample. Full-resolution files cost $7.99 for one person (up to 3 photos, 30 days) or $14.99 for a family of up to 4 (12 photos, 30 days). One payment, no subscription. CropPass is independent and not affiliated with any government. A question for you: if you've uploaded a photo to a passport or visa form recently, which form was it, and what did it complain about? I'd like to add the forms that cause the most trouble.

Who hunted CropPass?

CropPass was hunted by Jerry. A “hunter” on Product Hunt is the community member who submits a product to the platform — uploading the images, the link, and tagging the makers behind it.
